Al Khor International School (AKIS) is a co-educational international school offering students the choice of an English or Indian school curriculum. The school, which is located north of Doha, is owned by RasGas and Qatargas which are two of the largest natural gas-producing companies in the world. The school has over 4,500 students and primarily caters for the children of their employees. FCm has been partnered with the school since 2014.

FCm has achieved savings of up to 15% on group travel in just nine months.

Here's how we made it possible...


FCm manages the travel program for Al Khor International School which has an approximate annual spend of 3 million Qatari Riyal. The business’ main travel consists of group bookings for student activities, tours and excursions. These complex group bookings often involve multiple specialities including air travel, hotel bookings, visas, car hire and sightseeing tours. In addition, FCm is responsible for staff business travel, vacation bookings and travel arrangements for new staff taking up positions with the school. The school also requires assistance with MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) activities to support their business and promotional objectives.


The client’s focus was to engage a travel management company with the experience and regional knowledge to manage their school’s group travel requirements. To this end, they sought a provider that could demonstrate the in depth local experience and extensive resources required to deliver an end-to-end solution for the school’s often complex bookings. This included the ability to handle visas and ticket bookings separately, for the diverse number of nationalities represented at the school. The client also required a company with regional resources to source and supply local contacts to help groups with land travel arrangements.

A hands-on approach to supplier negotiations

FCm worked with suppliers to negotiate better rates with the key airlines and hotels utilised for student group bookings, to achieve significant cost savings. Regular reviews are also held with the client to discuss service level satisfaction and to report on data management procedures.

Dedicated support

FCm committed to appointing a key account manager, with a strong understanding of the client’s needs, to provide one point of contact for the client’s group bookings, business travel and MICE requirements. FCm’s dedicated travel desk handles the complete requirements for group bookings and sources the most appropriate hotels for the convenience and safety of students. In addition, FCm’s ability to provide 24/7 emergency assistance services was important in helping the school to meet its duty of care obligations to both staff and students.
