Press Releases: TRAVEL UPDATE - CHILEAN VOLCANO ASH CLOUD
15 June 2011:Volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt Puyehue Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile continues to cause flight disruptions across Australia, New Zealand and South America.
The eruption of the Puyehue volcano in southern Chile's Andes mountains is now in its second week and authorities expect the lingering ash cloud will cause further flight delays across the southern hemisphere over the next few days.
In Australia, the airspace over Perth and Tasmania are still being affected by the ash plume, while services to and from Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney have mostly returned to normal.
Some flight services across the Tasman Sea also remain suspended.
Flight delays are still being experienced across South America including Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.
Travellers are advised to confirm all flights.
