Press Releases: TRAVEL UPDATE - PROPOSED AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER STRIKE GERMANY

3 August 2011:

Germany's air traffic controller union is proposing a six-hour strike at airports across the country from 6am local time Thursday 4 August 2011.

The stop-work action is expected to cause severe flight delays and cancellations at a number of airports.

German authorities are investigating the legality of the strike, with work currently underway to prevent the stop work event.

If the strike goes ahead an estimated 2,500 of Germany's 10,000 daily flights may be cancelled.

Travellers are advised to confirm all flights to and from Germany.
