Have you ever dreamt of having your own private bedroom on those long haul flights? One where you can stretch out for an undisturbed sleep and awake to have a refreshing, steaming hot shower in your own ensuite? Well, if you are willing to pay the price it is no longer a dream, thanks to a new level of luxury and comfort just unveiled by Etihad.
On selected new A380 aircraft the airline has launched “The Residence by Etihad” which includes a private cabin featuring a living room, a separate double bedroom, an ensuite shower room and the services of a personal butler. And just so you don’t get bored, each A380 ‘residence’ will feature a different colour palette.
The new Etihad A380s will also have nine “First Apartments” in a 1 - 1 configuration on the upper deck. These private suites come complete with reclining lounge seats and a full-length bed, with a private mini bar and a handy wardrobe.
On the Boeing 787’s the airline has redesigned the first class cabin to incorporate eight private “First Suites” in a 1 - 2 - 1 configuration with a unique curved aisle. Each will have a large seat and ottoman which converts into a fully flat bed and on the centre seats the suites can be joined to create a 'double' bed.
Meanwhile for those business travellers who want to get work done enroute, the 787’s will have a new Business Studio with generous working space. The aircraft also boast the latest Panasonic eX3 personal entertainment system, including noise-cancelling headsets for all passengers and wi-fi capability. Then when it’s time to unwind you can drop in for a quiet drink at The Lobby – a serviced lounge and bar area.
These exciting new Etihad services will make their debut in December on A380 flights operating between Abu Dhabi and London, while the 787s will launch on the Dusseldorf route, then Washington DC and Mumbai. With the addition of more A380s next year, Etihad will fly these aircraft to New York and Sydney.
