Qantas takes off from Perth-London

Qantas’ first Perth to London flight took off on Saturday 24 March, marking the start of the only direct air link between Australia and Europe – and the fastest way of traveling between the two continents. The history-making QF9 carried more than 200 passengers and 16 crew. The first flight coincided with the opening of the airline’s new Perth International Transit Lounge featuring jetlag reducing lighting as well as pre-flight stretching classes, and relocating all of the airline’s domestic and international flights into a single terminal at Perth Airport for faster, smoother connections.

 

Qantas to relocate to T8 at JFK

Qantas plans to relocate its New York JFK operations to Terminal 8. The move comes into effect on 3 April, with the aim of providing seamless onward connections, as Qantas will share the terminal with airline partner American Airlines. Business class travels will have access to three AA lounges in the Terminal.

 

Virgin links Brisbane and Alice Springs

Virgin Australia plans to launch new twice-weekly direct services between Brisbane and Alice Springs. The new route will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19 June on Fokker 100 and Fokker 70 aircraft under a wet-lease agreement with Alliance Airlines.

 

Delta adds Boston-Las Vegas

Delta Air Lines has added a new non-stop route from Boston to Las Vegas. The daily B737-800 service operation departs Boston at 8.15am, with the return service leaving Las Vegas at 11.15am.

 

British Airways adds luxury bedding

British Airways plans to offer Club World business class travellers bespoke bedding on its Sydney-London Heathrow route. Luxury bedding from The White Company will be phased-in soon.

 

Etihad chauffeur rejig

Etihad Airways is making further changes to its chauffeur drive service in Abu Dhabi. Effective from 1 April, fare classes I and O will no longer be eligible for the service which offers First and Business class passengers return airport transfers to/from anywhere in the United Arab Emirates.  The change includes air mile upgrades from these fare types to the next tier. However, upgrades from eligible Business class fares into First class will continue to be eligible for the service.

 

Hilton Garden Inn expansion

Hilton Worldwide has added four new hotels to its Hilton Garden Inn Portfolio. New additions include the Hilton Garden Inn Las Vegas City Center, which is located within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip and offers meeting and event space for up to 100 people, The Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt City Centre in Germany, the Hilton Garden Inn Novorossiysk in Russia and the Hilton Garden Inn Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia.
