Clients, travel industry and local government representatives gathered in Nairobi this week to mark the official launch of the FCm Travel Solutions brand in Kenya by Charleston Travel.
Charleston Travel, which is FCm’s affiliate in Kenya, held a special event 22 January at the Nairobi Serena Hotel to formally introduce the brand to its corporate clients. Charleston Travel has been part of FCm’s African network for some time, however the event was the first formal introduction of the brand to Charleston Travel’s clients and the local travel industry.
The launch of the FCm brand is the first step in the process of a complete rebrand of Charleston Travel’s corporate business to FCm Travel Solutions.
Charleston Travel is one of eight travel agencies that make up FCm’s African partner network. Founded in 1990, the agency’s head office is located in Arnold Plaza, Woodvale Grove, Nairobi. The company employs 141 staff across its corporate and leisure travel operations.
Charleston Travel has three branch offices, one of which is based in the Nairobi central business district, another in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and a third office in Mombasa. The company also operates six implant offices throughout the country.
Charleston Travel Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Mburu said the launch was an important milestone for the company’s corporate operation.
“This is an exciting development for our corporate travel business. We want to more closely align our operation with FCm’s regional and global network to further grow our reputation as not only a leading local agency, but a corporate travel agency with global capabilities,” Mohammed said.
“This event reiterated to our existing and new clients that our company shares the same business DNA and approach to corporate travel and account management as our global affiliate FCm, which recently was named the World’s Leading Travel Management Company for the second year in a row.”
FCm’s Middle East and African network General Manager Ciarán Kelly welcomed the initiative and said the launch supported FCm’s plans to consolidate its regional network and strengthen its presence in Africa.
“Our Kenyan travel teams play an integral role in our offering for regional and multinational clients with commercial interests in East Africa,” Ciarán said. “They offer full corporate travel management services as well as dedicated corporate transfers, specialised visa processing capabilities and corporate escort services where required.
“Having on-the-ground local teams to assist our clients with local market pricing, product and advice is critical in this market. Our Kenyan teams have more than two decades of experience to back their service and we’re delighted to officially welcome them to our network under the FCm brand.”
Ciarán said the launch was a positive development for the FCm network and other African partners, which all travelled to Nairobi for the event and a regional meeting which followed.
“Coinciding with the launch event was our first regional meeting for Middle East and Africa in 2013, which focused on network priorities for the next six months.”
